What Hardik Pandya said when he was criticized by the greats

In the Asia Cup encounter against Pakistan, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya got injured and is striving to reclaim full fitness.

In his absence from the Indian Cricket Team, Ravindra Jadeja seemed to have filled his role in both ODI and Test cricket.

Although Hardik Pandya is exceptionally talented, the cricketer has often been harshly criticized for wasting himself by Sunil Gavaskar and Michael Holding.

In the post-match show with the broadcaster of India vs England series, Sunil Gavaskar angrily asked that Do you want to call Hardik Pandya an all-rounder? and whoever wants to call him an all-rounder, they may call! But he doesn't think so.

To ESPNCricinfo Michael Holding said, "Apparently they are playing Hardik Pandya as an allrounder to help out with the bowling. When he bowls he isn't as effective as he should be. If he was a good batsman, if he was getting runs - 60s, 70s, not even regular hundreds - at the number at which he bats and then he bowls and gets two or three wickets, happy, hallelujah. Happy with that. But he is not getting the amount of runs that can then allow him to get a wicket or two in the Test match. That doesn't work,"

Hardik Pandya recently celebrated his 25th birthday and he welcomed the arrival of a new member in his family - his dog 'Bentley'.

Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina , KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Ashwin Ravichandran, and many others wished him on his birthday on Twitter. Rohit Sharma wished him Happy Birthday and he hopes that Pandya will soon get back on the field.

Hardik Pandya said he is not disheartened by the criticism by the past greats. He told that he is seriously focused is on Winning the World Cup 2019.

On returning back Hardik Pandya said that he is recovering. He is busy with his fitness session and physiotherapy. He doesn't know when is he returning but is fully focused on getting fit.

On getting heartbroken for he got injured against Pakistan, Hardik Pandya said that it was not about Pakistan. It was disappointing to get injured like that. He took it positively and considered it as a break from cricket.

Hardik Pandya said that the World Cup is the biggest goal for him. He said that his individual focus, as well as his team focus, is on getting World Cup back. He wants to give more than his 100 % to win the World Cup.
