Rohit Sharma became the first batsman to hit a century in ODIs at the CCI

In the current ongoing 5-match ODI series of India vs West Indies, Rohit Sharma performed amazingly in first and the fourth ODI. In the first ODI at Guwahati, the match was won by India by 8 wickets. Rohit Sharma remains unbeaten and scored 152 runs off 117 balls.

The Second One Day International against West Indies at Visakhapatnam ended in a thrilling tie. The Third One Day International against West Indies was held at Pune and India lost the match by 43 runs.

In the fourth One Day International, Rohit Sharma scored 162 runs against West Indies and India beat West Indies by 224 runs. Rohit Sharma was declared as the ‘Man of the Match’ and Team India took the lead by 2-1.

Rohit Sharma in first ODI as well in Fourth ODI broke many records. Rohit Sharma broke the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record too. The fourth ODI was held at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. The venue and Rohit Sharma shares a special bond.

At the same Stadium, Rohit became the first Indian to score a T20 hundred in a domestic T20 game against Gujarat in 2007. In 2009, at the same venue, Rohit Sharma recorded his highest First Class score of unbeaten 309 in a Ranji Trophy game.

Rohit Sharma told that he has played a lot of cricket at CCI and he always enjoyed batting there. It is a good pitch and one can get value for his shots. He told that it has a fast outfield, so one doesn’t need to try and hit too hard. Batmen can find the gaps and that’s what he was looking at. When batsmen come to a ground where he had played enough cricket, he feels confident while going into a match.

He further told that he understands the nature of the pitch and what it does when the spinners are bowling, what helps the spinners when the bowl turns, those things are important. He had a lot of opportunities to play there and it was all about doing the same thing. He told that he don’t want to rate my knocks because all of them and all the runs he has scored for India are important to him.

After the end of fourth ODI, Rohit Sharma apart from scoring 150-plus a record seven times also became the first batsman to score a hundred in every format at CCI. The fifth ODI is scheduled on November 1 at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.
