Know about Rockstar Ravindra Jadeja: Early life, Career, Nickname, and Interesting Facts

Indian international cricketer Ravindra Jadeja is an all-rounder, who plays as a left-handed middle-order batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler.

Ravindra Jadeja was born in a humble family where his father was a security guard. His father wanted him to study in army school and his passion drove him towards cricket. His mother supported him in pursuing his passion but unfortunately, he lost his mother in an accident when he was a teen in 2005. He was almost about to surrender cricket but his sister supported him in achieving his dream.

Ravindra Jadeja was the vice-captain of the U-19 cricket team that won the U-19 World Cup 2008 in Malaysia under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. On 8 February 2009 Jadeja made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka and scored an unbeaten 60 off 77 balls in that match. On 13 December 2012, almost four years later, he made his Test debut against England at Nagpur.

In 2012, Jadeja became the eighth player and the first Indian player, to score three first-class triple centuries in his career.

In 2013, Jadeja was selected as ICC No.1 ODI bowler. In the same year, Sunil Gavaskar once said that Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara was a role model for youngsters. In February and March 2013, Jadeja's contributions in India's 4–0 test series win against Australia was praised and Gavaskar called him one of the architects of the win.

Jadeja played for the Rajasthan Royals for the first three seasons. Rajasthan Royals Captain Shane Warne referred to Jadeja as a "superstar in the making" and gave him a nickname "Rockstar". Later he represented Chennai Super Kings with brilliant performances for the team.

In an IPL match, there were 2 runs required off the last ball and CSK won it with one ball remaining when Jadeja was on a strike and the social media made this incident viral. In fact, MS Dhoni tweeted several humorous jokes on Jadeja calling him ‘sir’. Later Jadeja’s match-winning consistent performances given his nickname a worth.

Other interesting facts from the life of Jadeja are he has two horses Ganga and Kesar. Jadeja owns a restaurant in Rajkot called Jaddu’s Food Field. Jadeja feels that number 12 is fortunate for him. He wears No.12 on his jersey and ensured that his restaurant opens on December 12, 2012, as was born in December and selected into the national Test squad in December 2012.
